Cultura y cambio social
en América Latina
Talking about a crisis in the field of Latin Americanism is now a commonplace, almost devoid of meaning. However, the allusion to social change as a fundamental element to think about the culture referred to in the title of this book appeals precisely to the sense of profound modification that the notion of crisis is going through, as well as to the uncertainty that accompanies the transition that takes place between the modern world and the one that responds to the determinants of late capitalism. This book refers to the coexistence and simultaneity of both registers, which are combined in the Latin American social experience and in the cultural products that, with various symbolic mediations, account for the conflicts of the present.
